Is there a skating rink or any other winter activity at Toronto Islands? It seems like a great place to socially distance while having some fun?
November 22, 2020
I think it's a busy busy place and it's very fun and it has a lot of buildings in it and it has a lot of highways in it.
My son was with me and I asked him what he thinks of Toronto Islands :)

Hi folks!
We would like to go to Wards Island for a day out. We know the concession stands are closed as of Oct 14 2020. Does anyone know in practice if in fact all the restrooms will be closed?
We would like to have another day on the island before it gets too cold.
Thanks!

Good afternoon,
I am looking to get some information on where the picnic tables/bbq areas around the islands are located. We are looking to host a small outdoor group gathering and want to ensure we pick the best spot for our group.
September 6, 2020 , posted by Falone
We were told my friends and I that we can not go barbecue on the island while on the website it said we can do so without permit if we are less than 25 people. Two officers said it was a new law that was made over the past weekend. They said due to covid they didn’t want people to go and party over there , while other people were not bothered. We were not allowed to bring our own barbecue there and speakers because it assumes we are going to make a party over there. We felt like being profiled because we are a group of black people. We even asked to have them show us that new rule that they said was passed months ago but they couldn’t.
I feel it is unfair to just profile people more over on their skin color and without any solid argument behind.

Just wondering if there are any private areas to either breastfeed or pump on the island?
August 20, 2020
No, the tunnel only connects to the airport. The airport has no access to the rest of the island. You can take a taxi boat or ferry as the most common methods to get to the island.

Correction from July 22 post (incidents observed occurred July 20 not June 20):
I recently took the family on the ferry to Centre Island (July 20 in the afternoon) and was shocked by the rudeness and language of the staff managing the ferry. Although I understand the importance of the Ferry’s enforcement of required covid policy, I found it shocking to listen to rude staff members ordering passengers with foul language and threatening tones when communicating the “covid rules†to passengers. I would encourage the management responsible for the goons running your ferry service to smarten up and deal with your paying customers with respect and proper manners, not foul language and bad attitudes. Your hiring / training practices require a lot of improvement. The first lesson might be to explain to your ferry staff that indiscriminately threatening passengers on your ferries is not acceptable.

I found the protocols for entry and exit from the ferry not good. There was no distancing at all. Not at all. But once on the ferry there was 6 foot indicators for seating. It seemed contradictory. The island, once there, was spacious. The ferry would prevent me going again. It’s unsafe because there are no distancing protocols.

Hi, does the Boathouse have life vests along with the canoes/kayaks? Or are people required to bring their own?
July 17, 2020
Hello, lining up for the ferry at the city side and at the Centre Island side is unnecessarily chaotic because of a lack of signage. People cut in line because they don’t know where lines start/end and this could be avoided with clear instructions on where lines are forming. Please fix this, since lines are already crowded places where people are feeling nervous due to COVID-19. Thank you.

Hello. Your ferry schedule is incorrect. It caused me and my girlfriend a lot of trouble this morning. We arrived at the Centre Island terminal this morning to get on a 8:15am ferry as your website suggested there would be one. However, I have since learned that the first ferry from Centre Island is at 10:30am. Please update your ferry schedule. Thanks!

Used the 5:30 ferry from centre island yesterday and witnessed 8 people with masks around their necks not covering their mouth and nose. Only one staff member walked around to monitor usage but he only did it once and at the beginning of the trip. Once he passed the 8 people lowered their masks. When I attempted to bring it to the attention of the ferry employees afterwards they got pretty defensive saying they needed security on board. It appears they do.

Hi there,
Due to covid-19 I understand the island rules have changed, am I allowed to kayak to Toronto island and spend a couple of hours there and leave? Or is all access to the island forbidden unless I am a resident of the island which I am not. Thanks so much!

As a suggestion they could open Hanlon’s and centre island while keeping wards Island closed off to the general public.

Is Toronto Island Park open? I've heard conflicting statements as to whether the ferry service is available to other than for Ward's/Algonquin residents. Hello there,
We would like to know if there are any short-term rental accommodations anywhere on the Toronto Islands for at least 5 days. Also, since no private cars are allowed on the islands is there anything like a taxi service using other modes of transport? On September 20th after enjoying a beautiful day on Ward's Beach I left my beach bag behind near the ferry entrance with all of my beach belongings - hats, bathing suit, scarves, book, shoes, insect repellent, sweater, etc. Lost and Found phone calls came back with nothing but I was told by Ferry Traffic I could come down and look for myself in Lost and Found. I went back on Wednesday and there was my bag! However, someone had "shopped" my bag and taken a new cotton/cashmere sweater, the full bottle of bug spray and my mother's favourite cotton canvas sunhat I got for her in Paris. I am so grateful for whoever turned in my bag but I hope that it wasn't the same people who helped themselves to my belongings. Whoever you are, I hope you enjoy these things that aren't yours. And if you did turn it in after taking them, well you must have some conscience. I have met so many wonderful people on my beach days and believe that this is the norm. Things can be replaced. I believe in Karma...

Hello, this is an odd question. We went to Centre Island last Friday (the 20th) and left the island at around 3-4pm. We were there with our two year old infant and she lost her favorite hat, we think maybe on the ferry when we were getting off. It was a present and it does have sentimental value. It was a small straw brown type hat from the GAP and for a toddler/infant. If there's any sort of lost and found, can you please let me know if it was picked up? Thank you so much
